Designing with Emotion: Inside the New Catskills Collection

A new sensory collection in collaboration with Helena Christensen brings calm, tactility and quiet character to contemporary contract interiors.

The new Catskills collection

Our creative collaboration with Helena Christensen continues with the launch of Catskills – a new collection designed to evoke calm, connection and emotion through form and material. Developed with contemporary living in mind, Catskills reflects our Danish design heritage while embracing a more tactile, expressive approach suited to today’s contract interiors.

Following the success of previous collaborations including the Ø lounge chair and Flora, this collection introduces a living chair and side table that balance comfort, character and craftsmanship – making them ideal for spaces where atmosphere is just as important as function.

Inspired by nature, designed for real spaces

Named after the Catskills region in the north of New York, the collection is inspired by the landscapes that Helena describes as her sanctuary – a place to slow down, breathe and reconnect. Rather than referencing nature in a literal way, Catskills translates that sense of stillness and balance into furniture that feels grounded and restorative.

For trade and contract projects, this makes the collection particularly well suited to hospitality lounges, residential developments, wellness spaces and informal workplace settings, where furniture plays a key role in shaping how people feel within a space.

Soft silhouettes and tactile materials

At the heart of the collection is the Catskills living chair, defined by its soft, cocooning form. Upholstered in Bologna Velvet, its embracing contours invite relaxation while maintaining a refined, contemporary presence that works across a range of interior schemes.

The Catskills side table complements the chair with a combination of natural materials and subtle detailing. A softly fluted wooden tabletop sits above a woven rattan shelf, introducing warmth, texture and visual interest without overpowering the surrounding space.

Together, these pieces create intimate moments within larger interiors – ideal for breakout areas, reading corners or relaxed meeting zones.

Colour with emotion and balance

Catskills also introduces two new Bologna Velvet tones to our collection: Sky Blue and Mouse Belly. Both colours are designed to add emotional depth while remaining versatile for specification.

Sky Blue brings a calm, open quality to an interior, while Mouse Belly offers a more grounding, sensual tone that adds richness to neutral palettes. Used individually or together, they allow designers to create spaces that feel balanced, serene and quietly distinctive.

Rooted in our modern Danish design language, the Catskills Collection combines timeless craftsmanship with a sense of individuality. It reflects a growing desire for interiors that feel more personal and restorative – spaces that support wellbeing as well as everyday use.

For trade and contract environments, Catskills offers furniture that is both considered and characterful: pieces that integrate seamlessly into a project while bringing warmth, tactility and emotion to the overall design.
