Having designed furniture since 1952, many of our pieces are influenced by the 1950s functionalism wave in Danish furniture design.  

Modern retro design draws inspiration from the mid-20th century, particularly the 1950s to the 1970s, a period renowned for its bold use of colour, playful patterns, and unique furniture silhouettes. This era celebrated individuality and creativity, elements that are making a comeback in today’s interiors. The essence of modern retro lies in its ability to evoke a sense of familiarity and comfort while simultaneously embracing the conveniences and aesthetics of the 21st century. BoConcept have been designing furniture since 1952 and was strongly influenced by the 1950s functionalism wave in Danish furniture design so there is a constant dialogue with the past in many of our designs.

Sideboards such as Fermo and Lugano hold strong ties with some of the first pieces designed in the 1950s.
