BoConcept Trade & Contract team in London is the B2B division of the internationally recognised brand, delivering furnished solutions across the residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. We all know that it’s ‘the people’ that make a team what it is and drive its success. So, we are continuing to give you a little snapshot of the individuals who make it all happen. So far, we have introduced you to Jeremy and Angela, and this month we would like to introduce you to Michael, who is our Head of Business Development.
Michael Effenberger– Head of Business Development
Tell us about your journey to becoming Head of Business Development for BoConcept?
I started my BoConcept journey helping the retail sales team at the Ideal Home Show, selling furniture I didn’t really know much about but would later come to greatly admire. I then went on to work on the shop floor for a period of time before becoming the regional manager of our London retail stores. My next challenge was to build on the success of our trade department. Our new trade programme has been so well received by our clients, and now with a strong team, I am proud to be the Head of Business Development.
What is most rewarding about your role?
Being a "people person," I love getting to meet and get to know all the new clients that are learning about BoConcept. Seeing those clients fall in love with the brand and incorporate our pieces into their own designs time and time again... this is the best part!

What do you like most about the BoConcept brand?
Apart from the fact that the brand represents the true heritage and quality of timeless Scandinavian design, I really do admire its versatility. Our collection has so much to offer across a wide range of products that can be customised to complement any project or environment. There really is something for everyone, which makes it very easy for our team to find solutions to whatever our clients are looking for.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Stradbroke Island, Australia. A hidden gem, just a car ferry across the bay to a beautiful island off the coast of my home town of Brisbane, where I grew up visiting year after year, a place where I got to marry my beautiful wife, and a place we now take our son to make his own wonderful memories. The island is full of natural beauty and feels a million miles away from the real world!
