Our Designers Reveal the Interior Trends Defining 2026

The year ahead promises a shift in how we design and experience interiors, and we reveals what to watch.

Across residential, hospitality and commercial sectors, the interiors landscape is entering a new chapter. For 2026, we highlight a shift led by personal expression, adaptive comfort and spaces that prioritise emotional well-being. These trends align closely with long-term industry drivers: flexible spatial planning, multipurpose environments and the need for design solutions that balance aesthetics, durability and user experience.

This sentiment is echoed in Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2026, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer. A soft, expansive white, Cloud Dancer reflects a growing desire for quiet clarity in an increasingly noisy world. Rather than acting as a statement colour, it provides a calming foundation — a structural shade that allows materials, forms and personal expression to take centre stage. Its versatility makes it particularly relevant for large-scale projects, where longevity, adaptability and atmosphere must coexist.

Against this backdrop, four of our leading designers – Claudio Bellini, Hans Thyge Raunkjær, Henrik Pedersen and ARDE – have distilled the direction of travel into three core trends shaping the year ahead.

Configurable comfort: Design that adapts

Demand for modular seating continues to rise, driven by the need for commercial and residential spaces to evolve without disruption. In hotel lounges, Build-to-Rent developments and high-end residential projects, modularity offers design teams the freedom to reconfigure layouts while maintaining a consistent visual language.

Italian architect and designer Claudio Bellini, creator of the Milano sofa, imagines modular design as a landscape shaped by its inhabitants. He emphasises that design must evolve in harmony with life, and modular systems provide the freedom to adapt both functionally and aesthetically. This adaptability is invaluable as spaces increasingly serve multiple purposes throughout the day.

The Milano sofa exemplifies this movement, allowing designers to create expansive seating islands, intimate breakout areas or evolving living spaces that grow with their needs. Paired with sculptural coffee tables or slim-profile accents, these configurations deliver both comfort and strong architectural presence.

Mindful calm: Acoustic sanctuaries in a busy world

As open-plan environments continue to dominate homes, shared workspaces and hospitality schemes, the need for quiet, restorative corners is becoming more pronounced. Texture-rich materials, enveloping silhouettes and strategic spatial zoning are key tools for creating calm within larger volumes.

ARDE, designer of the circularity-led Aarhus collection, notes that modern design is increasingly concerned with sensory engagement and the invitation to pause. He describes these spaces as moments of calm within the rhythm of everyday life.

Claudio Bellini adds that silence itself has become a luxury, inspiring designs that offer a sense of clarity as well as comfort.

Pieces like the Bolzano or the Ø lounge chair by Helena Christensen deliver this enveloping quality, while rugs in wool, felted textures or organic patterns help absorb sound and soften the visual landscape. When combined, these elements allow designers to carve out peaceful zones in hotel suites, amenity spaces, office lounges and luxury residential interiors, enhancing user experience without sacrificing openness.

Curated individuality: Your home, your story

The third major trend shaping 2026 is a renewed appetite for curated eclecticism. Rather than adhering to a single design era or minimal aesthetic, clients are increasingly blending contemporary furniture with personal objects, art, found items and cultural pieces that bring depth and authenticity.

Danish designer Hans Thyge Raunkjær observes a rising desire for spaces that reflect individual taste, uniting high craftsmanship with cherished keepsakes. Henrik Pedersen, long-term collaborator and designer of the Salamanca and Imola, notes the growing importance of a more eclectic, honest expression – one that rejects rigidity in favour of character and warmth.

This translates into interiors that feel grounded and memorable. Calgary shelving becomes a curated display for personality, while warm materials and generous curves help create welcoming environments that balance sophistication with soul. This approach aligns particularly well with boutique hospitality, Build-to-Rent communities and high-end residential developments where emotional resonance is increasingly prioritised.

Taken together, these trends reveal a design landscape that is increasingly human-centred. Flexibility supports evolving lifestyles. Calm fosters clarity and well-being. Personalisation brings meaning and individuality to every space. From Bellini’s sculptural serenity through to ARDE’s mindful design, we continue to champion interiors that balance Danish craftsmanship with a distinctly global sensibility.

2026 is set to be a year of creating spaces that adapt, restore and reflect the people who inhabit them — a future where design is thoughtful, personal and built to last.
