Designed by Karim Rashid, the Ottawa collection blends organic comfort with modular freedom for modern, multi-use environments.

The Ottawa collection in an office setting
The way we use space is shifting rapidly. As workplaces and public environments evolve towards mobility, collaboration and wellbeing, designers are seeking solutions that can adapt with ease. The Ottawa collection, designed by Karim Rashid, embraces this shift with a human-centric, organic and highly flexible approach to modular seating.
Responding to increasing demands for freedom within interiors — especially office and co-working spaces — Ottawa redefines how people sit, gather and interact. As Rashid notes, “I’ve always been inspired by the way humans interact.” His ambition was to create a sofa that feels just as comfortable in a small breakout area as it does when expanded to seat many.

A modular system with out limits
Comprising 10 unique modules, the Ottawa collection offers countless configuration possibilities. Some modules take the form of ottomans, others allow seating from three directions, and several include or omit backrests for complete spatial freedom.
The result is a system that adapts seamlessly to its environment, whether it’s supporting quick conversations, informal meetings or quiet moments of individual focus.
To meet the expectations of modern work culture, Ottawa integrates practical features including:
- A moveable table
- An ottoman with laptop tray
- USB outlets for charging devices
These elements create a functional ecosystem for collaboration, connectivity and comfort — supporting employees as they work, recharge and reconnect throughout the day.

Organic from with a human touch
The Ottawa collection is rooted in Rashid’s belief that design should feel warm, intuitive and inherently human. His process began with two essential priorities — beauty and comfort — before incorporating the modularity required for today’s adaptable spaces.
Its sculptural forms may appear minimal, but they evoke a calming sense of nature. “In nature, you rarely find perfectly straight lines,” Rashid explains. “These organic, flowing forms invite people to sit. The sofa sends a clear message: welcome.”
This philosophy is embedded throughout the collection. Even the Ottawa side table reflects this approach: a slim, elegant surface that slides neatly beneath sofas or beds, sturdy enough for laptops yet refined enough for hospitality environments.

A natural aesthetic for modern spaces
Merging modern minimalism with soft, organic shapes, the Ottawa collection offers an aesthetic that is both contemporary and comforting. Its curved silhouettes bring a sense of ease to high-activity areas — adding warmth without compromising functionality.
For designers, Ottawa provides:
- High modularity and reconfigurability
- Organic forms that feel intuitive and inviting
- Technology-ready features for hybrid work
- A cohesive visual language that suits offices, hospitality and education
- Comfort-first design with a sophisticated, sculptural presence
