Shaping Communal Living at Riga Bosques

How thoughtfully designed communal spaces at Riga Bosques extend the Build-to-Rent experience, creating connection, comfort and long-term value for residents.

Located in Santa Fe on the west side of Mexico City, Riga Bosques is a landmark BTR development that reflects the area’s rapid urban evolution. Defined by two striking high-rise towers designed by Mexican architect Enrique Macotela, the project brings a distinctly contemporary, almost Northern European architectural language to one of the capital’s most dynamic districts.

Following the successful completion of the apartments in 2024, BoConcept’s local Mexico team was once again appointed to furnish the communal areas of the development. Building on the original vision for Riga Bosques as a service-led residential environment, the shared spaces were conceived as an extension of everyday living—places designed not only to pass through, but to actively use, inhabit and enjoy.

Communal spaces as a lifestyle asset

Riga Bosques is aimed at tenants seeking flexibility, convenience and quality in equal measure. In line with the growing popularity of BTR living in Mexico, the development offers residents access to a wide range of shared amenities, including a swimming pool, gym, yoga centre, coffee lounge, co‑working areas, social bar, sky lounge and pet-friendly spaces, alongside generous outdoor terraces and gardens.

For the local team, furnishing these areas required a careful balance: the spaces needed to feel welcoming and refined, while remaining robust enough to withstand daily, high-frequency use. The result is a cohesive interior language that supports both social interaction and moments of retreat—spaces where residents can work, relax or connect without leaving the building.

A cohesive design language across shared areas

The furniture and interior solutions provided for the lobby and communal zones set the tone for the entire development. As the first point of arrival, the lobby was envisioned as a calm yet confident introduction to Riga Bosques—contemporary in expression, but warm in atmosphere. Clean-lined furniture, considered proportions and a restrained material palette contribute to a sense of understated quality that aligns with the architecture of the towers themselves.

Across the shared spaces, the local team's approach focused on clarity and continuity. Rather than treating each area as a standalone environment, the interiors are connected through consistent design principles, creating a natural flow from one space to the next. This collective language reinforces the identity of the development while allowing each zone to fulfil its own functional role.

Supporting long-term rental living

In a post-pandemic context, BTR developments like Riga Bosques respond to shifting lifestyles and priorities. As noted by Corporativo Kosmos, tenants are increasingly drawn to homes that reduce the need for ownership while offering high-quality, ready-to-use environments. Well-designed communal areas play a critical role in this model, adding tangible value to the rental experience and encouraging longer stays.

By furnishing the shared spaces, the team helped translate this philosophy into physical form—creating environments that feel intuitive, durable and comfortable over time. The emphasis is not on visual impact alone, but on how the spaces support everyday routines and evolving patterns of use.

Riga Bosques demonstrates how interior design can operate as a strategic element within contemporary residential projects. From private apartments to shared amenities, a consistent design approach strengthens the overall identity of the development and enhances how residents experience it on a daily basis.

By extending design thinking into communal areas, Riga Bosques sets a benchmark for BTR projects that place equal emphasis on functionality, aesthetics and community.
