A lived-in workplace in Osaka that shows how Scandinavian design supports focus, collaboration and calm, without ever feeling staged.

Soft design for busy days

Scandinavian design has long understood that the quality of a workspace is felt before it is seen. The Osaka Live Office brings this philosophy to life, offering a working environment shaped around use, movement and everyday comfort.

Delivered by the local BoConcept team in Japan, the project continues the brand’s exploration of live offices, following the path set by Tokyo. Rather than functioning as a traditional showroom, Osaka behaves like a real workplace. It is a space designed to be experienced throughout the day, where quiet focus and open collaboration exist side by side.

Calm zones and collaborative moments

Rooted in the Danish notion of hygge, the interior offers a calm, tactile environment that supports both individual concentration and shared activity. Materials are chosen to soften the architecture, zoning is subtle rather than imposed, and the colour palette remains deliberately understated. Together, these elements create an immediate sense of ease, allowing the space to feel welcoming without distraction.

Breakout zones and work areas flow naturally within the open-plan layout, demonstrating how thoughtful furniture placement can define purpose without closing spaces off.

Scandinavian design for contemporary work

A wide range of BoConcept furniture was placed to articulate the different functions of the office. Desk areas are anchored by the Fiorentina table paired with Adelaide office chairs, offering a refined yet practical solution for focused work.

Meeting zones introduce contrast and energy through bold orange Vienna chairs surrounding the Alicante table, creating a setting that encourages conversation and collaboration. Elsewhere, more relaxed speaking areas feature pieces from the Nawabari collection, including sofas, armchairs and pouffes, providing softer spaces for informal discussions or moments of pause.

Dining-style seating zones add another layer to the workplace experience, with Princeton dining chairs and the Bornholm dining table in natural oak bringing warmth and versatility to the environment.

Throughout the space, pieces such as the Bordeaux console table and curated gallery elements help to subtly compartmentalise the large open-plan office, guiding movement and creating visual rhythm without interrupting flow.

The whole Osaka Live Office

Osaka Live Office demonstrates how Scandinavian design principles translate seamlessly into contemporary working environments. By allowing furniture, light and movement to come together naturally, the space reveals how design can support clarity, creativity and everyday comfort.

More than a visual statement, it is a working environment designed to be lived with, not staged, offering a grounded expression of how BoConcept’s global design language adapts to local contexts while remaining true to its core values.
