Spotlight on Interiors: Nicola O’Mara. Monterey, Cornwall

We love to celebrate all the fabulous work that our interior design partners produce, and this project by Nicola O’Mara is definitely one to shout about! ‘Monterey’ is a beautiful beach house nestled among the dunes at the back of Porthtowan Beach. It showcases a perfect hybrid of Scandinavian design with a coastal vibe. 

Nicola O’Mara’s recent project where she was tasked with giving the interior of this five-bedroom property a refresh by new owners.   

Nicola O’Mara is one of the leading home renovation experts in Cornwall, with over 23 years of experience remodelling homes in the area. Her recent project, Monterey, is an elegant beach house with stunning coastal views. The reverse levels are positioned so that the sea is at an exact level as you walk up the stairs, which is one of the key features of this beautiful property. The soft, neutral palette gives a relaxing feel that doesn’t distract from the encompassing views. The earthy tones and organic textures blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

This coastal living area features a beautiful combination of furniture for lounging around enjoying the views. A large Indivi sofa combined with our Athena swivel chair and footstool.     

Nicola says “While the design is intentionally quiet, we included elements of understated glamour. Large BoConcept sofas were installed in the living area along with swivel chairs to make the most of the existing open-plan space and to work with the central feature fireplace which drops down from the ceiling."

The organic curves of our Modena sofa work perfectly with this gentle palette, adding a soft yet contemporary touch to this living space.
