Summer is finally here, and it’s time to get our homes summer-ready! We all know the Danes are particularly great at styling their spaces to feel warm in the colder months. They lead the way in creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere in their homes, but not just in the winter. The sunny summer months are precious in Scandinavia and need to be made the most of; the same could be said for here in old blighty. Let’s take a look at some ways we can follow in the Danes footsteps and create spaces that welcome in the summer days...
Make the most of a nice sunny corner by relaxing on the Osaka sofa.
MAXIMISE NATURAL LIGHT
Open those blinds fully, make sure the windows are clean and let the sunlight pour in! Use mirrors and light-coloured furniture to bounce the light around the space and reflect those rays on the long summer days. Make the most of the sunny spots around the house by creating a cosy reading corner or pull up a small table by the window to enjoy a morning coffee.
PLANTS, PLANTS EVERYWHERE!
Scandinavians are known to have a considerable number of plants dotted around their homes. Nothing makes a space feel more like summer than an abundance of flourishing, healthy greenery scattered around. On tables, bookshelves, sideboards, and empty corners. The more, the merrier!
The iconic Imola chair can be brought to life even more by being surrounded by some lively greenery
LIGHTEN THE LINENS
Swap out any moody tones and textures in your bedding to make it light and airy. Bring out the bright whites and fresh light tones. Think cottons and linens for an uplifting summer feel that will be cool and comfortable.
NATURE INSPIRED TONES & TEXTURES
To avoid all the bright whites feeling stark and bare, add a summery warmth by introducing earthy tones such as driftwood and natural weaves and baskets. Use organic fabrics and soft furnishings to add a summery softness.
Fresh white linens and earthy-toned textiles create the perfect space to wake up and start the day well!

BRING THE INDOORS OUT!
We all know that ‘bringing the outdoors in’ has many benefits; however, on those whimsical summer days, there is also a lot to be said for ‘taking the indoors out’! Use the décor, textures, and artefacts that make an indoor space feel homely and create that same feeling outside. Think cushions, blankets, and candles for cosy late nights. Glassware, table linens, and lanterns for alfresco dining. Let the indoors spill out while you can!
