WORKING FROM HOME: THE NEW NORMAL

Written by Leonnie Effenberger | Sep 2, 2021 8:35:20 AM

Over the last few months, working from home has certainly become ‘the new normal’ for many people. Prior to the Covid 19 pandemic we had seen a rise in workers opting to carry out their jobs remotely, in the comfort of their own home, without the expense and time spent on commuting. However, after the last few months of having no choice but to work from home, many are realising that the benefits of working this way can actually increase efficiency and productivity as well as an improved sense of wellbeing. Of course, this is all dependent on having the right home office setup!

Your home office needs to be an extension of your home, but with less distractions. Using warm earthy tones will make your work space feel homely and inviting.

If working from home really is the way of the future, then it is more important than ever to invest in a space that is going to set you up for success in your job. And the beauty is… you have full control to personalise your work space to completely suit you. (No asking for approval required!)

Your home office should feel like an extension of your home. It should still reflect your personal style and taste, however with minimal distractions. It should be comfortable, organised and should feed into your productivity, especially considering the amount of time and focus you will need in this space. Offices can often fall victim to feeling cold and bland, so ensure you continue some aesthetics from the rest of your home, whether it be earthy materials, pops of colour, warm pools of light or even just some botanicals to give the room some life!

Even with limited space, you can still create a functional home office that will make working from home easier.

Comfort is key and should be a priority when it comes to designing your home office. Well designed, ergonomically considered furniture will help you look after your health and maintain focus whilst working. This is why choosing the correct desk and chair is so important. You must consider the height, position and shape to ensure it will encourage the correct posture and keep your body in proper alignment.

Organisation and storage can also have a big impact in your productivity. By having a clear, organised desk, knowing exactly where everything is that you might need, you can start the day off feeling focussed and ready to tackle your daily tasks.

Create a space that is dedicated to you and your work and make sure your home office is somewhere that you want to be. Particularly now that working from home is going to become part of daily life for many, it is important to ‘zone’ this area as a separate space to work away from household duties and family distractions. Make sure this is a space you look forward to being present in at 9am on a Monday morning!

BoConcept offers a beautiful range of functional, customisable, ergonomically designed office furniture that will make you feel at home in your home office.
